The Exmoor Pioneers Programme, backed by £1.25 million in funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, is a four-year initiative aimed at enhancing nature, heritage, and community on Exmoor. This transformative project is a celebration of Exmoors unique landscape and heritage, ensuring its future for generations to come. We are now looking for a Heritage Ranger to join us and support the Exmoor Pioneers Programme on a part-time basis, working 22.2 hours (three days) per week for a four-year fixed term contract. The Role As a Heritage Ranger, you will lead the delivery of heritage conservation projects within the Exmoor Pioneers Programme. You will focus on heritage at risk, scheduled monuments and locally listed assets while contributing to community archaeology and heritage engagement activities. Overseeing the specification, consent processes and procurement for heritage conservation projects, you will work with volunteers and contractors to ensure successful implementation. Collaborating closely with the engagement and skills strands of the Pioneers programme, you will deliver innovative activities that promote historical research and public engagement. Additionally, you will: - Carry out project monitoring and provide follow-up reporting - Assist in the recruitment and co-ordination of volunteers - Support events, media communications and programme-wide activities as required About You To be considered as a Heritage Ranger, you will need: - Experience working in the heritage sector - Experience of archaeological fieldwork and heritage engagement (public archaeology) - Experience working with and managing contractors and volunteers - Knowledge and experience of carrying out risk assessments - Project management skills - A degree level qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., archaeology/heritage based) or equivalent experience The closing date for this role is 3rd December 2024.
